Gut Zoomer Test

Get Quote

The Gut Zoomer is a comprehensive functional assessment used to evaluate the full spectrum of gut health, spanning microbiome balance, pathogen burden, intestinal permeability, digestion, inflammation, detoxification pathways, and the gut-brain connection including neurotransmitter activity.

Unlike standard stool tests that screen for a narrow range of pathogens, the Gut Zoomer analyses over 300 markers across microbial, immune, metabolic, and neurochemical domains. It is designed to identify the root contributors behind both gut-specific and systemic symptoms, providing a structured, clinically actionable report that connects what is happening in the gut to what is being experienced throughout the body.

Samples are processed in a CLIA-certified and CAP-accredited laboratory. Results are available within 14 days of the laboratory receiving the samples.

What The Test Evaluates

The Gut Zoomer measures across the following categories:

Gut commensals (100+ markers):

  • Diversity and richness of the gut microbiome including Akkermansia muciniphila, Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, Bifidobacterium species, Lactobacillus species, Roseburia intestinalis, Methanobrevibacter smithii, and many others

Gut pathogens (76 markers):

  • Pathogenic bacteria including H. pylori, C. difficile (Toxin A and B), Salmonella, Shigella, Campylobacter, Listeria, Yersinia enterocolitica, Vibrio species, and multiple pathogenic E. coli strains
  • Parasites including Giardia lamblia, Cryptosporidium, Entamoeba histolytica, Blastocystis hominis, Dientamoeba fragilis, Strongyloides stercoralis, Ascaris lumbricoides, Taenia species, and others
  • Fungi including Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, Geotrichum, Rhodotorula, and Microsporidium
  • Viruses including Norovirus GI/GII, Rotavirus A, Adenovirus F40/41, Cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, Astrovirus, and Sapovirus strains

Inflammation markers (7):

  • Calprotectin, Fecal Lactoferrin, Beta-defensin 2, Fecal Eosinophil Protein X, Lysozyme, MMP-9, S100A12

Gut antibody markers (6):

  • Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG), Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP), Fecal Anti-Gliadin IgA, Actin Antibody, LPS Antibody, Anti-Saccharomyces cerevisiae Antibody (ASCA)

Malabsorption markers (7):

  • Total fecal fat, Fecal triglycerides, Long-chain fatty acids, Total cholesterol, Total phospholipids, Meat fiber, Vegetable fiber

Gut metabolites (11):

  • Short-chain fatty acids: Acetate, Butyrate, Propionate, Valerate, and Total SCFAs
  • Bile acids: Cholic acid, Chenodeoxycholic acid, Deoxycholic acid, Lithocholic acid, and LCA/DCA ratio
  • Beta-glucuronidase (estrogen and hormone detoxification)

Gut diversity indices (4):

  • Shannon Diversity Index, Simpson Diversity Index, Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes ratio, Prevotella/Bacteroidetes ratio

Gut phyla (7):

  • Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, Fusobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes, Euryarchaeota, Verrucomicrobia

Digestion and immune balance markers (5):

  • Fecal Zonulin (intestinal permeability), Secretory IgA, Pancreatic Elastase-1, Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT), Stool pH

Antibiotic resistance genes (12):

  • Resistance markers across clarithromycin, fluoroquinolones, vancomycin, beta-lactams, macrolides, tetracyclines, aminoglycosides, carbapenems, rifampin, and polymyxins

Excitatory neurotransmitters (12):

  • Glutamate, Histamine, Dopamine, DOPAC, HVA, Norepinephrine, Epinephrine, VMA, Acetylcholine, Aspartate, Oxytocin, PEA

Neurotransmitter ratios (4):

  • Norepinephrine/Epinephrine, HVA/VMA, HVA/DOPAC, Quinolinic acid/5-HIAA

How The Test Works

The test requires two sample types collected at home:

  • A stool sample, used to analyse the microbiome, pathogens, digestion, immune markers, inflammation, and metabolites
  • Timed urine samples, used to measure neurotransmitters, catecholamine rhythms, and neuroactive metabolites

Both collections are completed using the materials provided in the kit and returned to the laboratory using the prepaid mailer included. The stool and urine samples should be packaged and returned on the same day collection is completed. Results are delivered to Dr. Menka Gupta within 14 days of the laboratory receiving the samples.

Who This Test Is For

This test is used for individuals presenting with or concerned about:

  • Bloating, gas, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, or constipation
  • IBS, IBD, or SIBO history
  • Unexplained food sensitivities or reactions
  • Chronic fatigue or poor energy recovery
  • Brain fog or poor cognitive function
  • Anxiety, low mood, or irritability
  • Disrupted sleep patterns
  • Skin conditions including acne, eczema, or rashes
  • Stubborn weight changes
  • Autoimmune conditions with a suspected gut-driven component
  • Long-term use of medications with gut-impacting effects
  • Hormonal imbalances, particularly where oestrogen detoxification is a concern

The gut-brain axis governs mood, sleep, cognition, and stress response. When the gut microbiome, barrier integrity, and neurotransmitter production are disrupted simultaneously, symptoms often span multiple systems. The Gut Zoomer maps these connections in a single test, identifying where the imbalance originates and what is sustaining it.
